Biography
JAN KUNZ
Jan Kunz was
born in Portland, Oregon, and received her education
in Southern California where she worked as an art
director for a large advertising firm.
Jan Kunz now makes
Kentfield, California her home with her husband,
Bill, and dog Griff.
Jan Kunz has worked as a full-time watercolor artist
and instructor since 1978. Jan has taught
watercolor workshops nationwide and has authored
five books and three videos on the subject.
Her books include: Painting Watercolor Portraits
that Glow, Painting Watercolor Florals that
Glow, Watercolor Techniques, Painting
Beautiful Watercolors from Photographs, and
Watercolor Basics: Color, all published by North
Light Books. These books have found acceptance
worldwide and have been translated into both Chinese
and Japanese. Videos include Painting a Portrait
in Watercolor, Roses and Crystal, and
Getting Started Right, by Creative Catalyst
Productions.
Jan Kunz paintings are an intriguing combination of
vibrant color and delicacy. Her watercolor
technique is unsurpassed. Jan Kunz contributes
to national and international publications and has
four videos to her credit. She is an active
participant in the semi annual Peppertree Art Show
and teaches to packed classes all over the United
States. Jan Kunz has a reputation of being one
of the best watercolor teachers in the country.
Kunz's paintings can be seen
in galleries and private collections as well as in
art-related publications including Southwest Art,
The Artist's Magazine, Australian Artist's Magazine,
and table top editions of Splash, The Best of Floral
Painting, and The Artist's Touch.
