Artist's Statement: "I love watercolor
because of its dynamic qualities- it moves! That’s
watercolor’s inherent characteristic. Often I make
preparatory sketches, which are further developed
into paintings. I have thousands of sketches- enough
to paint for next three hundred years! Over the
years I have relied less and less on photographs.
Sketches seem to have more emotional and direct
impact on my paintings. I love colors and use them
intuitively rather than relying on what’s out there.
It’s the fruit of life!"

Ratindra Das, through enjoyable demonstrations and exercises, will
teach an expressive and liberating watercolor workshop. Lessons on how
to use "juiced-up colors" and simplifications of shapes, plus Ratindra's
practical wisdom and an easy going atmosphere, will free up participants.
Carry your watercolor to new level of expression with this
design-oriented approach.
With a focus on simplification, Ratindra will share his experiences about
the craft of painting through a variety of approaches: wet into wet,
partially dry paper, etc. You will learn how to beat the old clichés
and focus on how to interpret boring photographs into exciting paintings.
Bring enthusiasm, your favorite painting supplies, and a sketchbook to this
enjoyable workshop.
